Yvonne Clair Nevil was born on February 7, 1953, to Orville and Lorene (Read) Smith in Gordon, Nebraska and passed away surrounded by family on June 20, 2011, at Triumph Hospital Southwest in Houston, Texas.
Yvonne grew up in Hay Springs, Nebraska, and attended school in Hay Springs, Nebraska, and Freeport, Texas.

On August 13, 1970, she was married to Jack Martin in Freeport, Texas. To this union a son, Kam, was born.
Yvonne returned to Hay Springs in 1988 and married Bill Hessler on February 7, 1991. She loved to garden and planted huge gardens at their home in the country.
After moving back to Texas, Yvonne married James Nevil on February 14, 2000 in Freeport, Texas. She operated their store on Quintana Beach where she created an "under sea" atmosphere until she was not longer able to work due to illness.
She loved the island, her family, socializing with her friends and her plants.
Yvonne is survived by her son, Kam Martin, of Omaha, NE; sister, Annette Langford (Greg Walgren), of Hay Springs, NE; life companion, James Nevil, of Quintana, Texas; step-daughter, Lori Nevil, of Seattle, Washington; step-son, Michael (Jennifer) Nevil; step-granddaughters, Morgan and Madeline, of Freeport, Texas; nephews, Everette (Shannon) Langford, of Hay Springs, and Chris Smith, of Lake Jackson, Texas; nieces, Windy (Jason) Perkins, of Scottsbluff, NE and Danyell (Jeff) Brown, of Lake Jackson; 11 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; and brother, Read Smith.
A wake will be held at Quintana Breeze on Quintana Island from 4 to 9 p.m. on July 9, 2011. Interment will follow at a later date. Contact James Nevil at 979-201-3378 with questions.
Donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation may be made in lieu of flowers.
