Services for Billy Joe McClain, 81, of Surfside Beach, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Pastor Grigsby officiating.
The family will receive friends at El Toro Mexican Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011, after memorial service.
BJ McClain was born on November 13, 1929, in Ratcliff, Texas. As an adult he lived in Houston, Texas, and worked as a salesman. He married Loy B McClain on September 24, 1951, and they had two children, W. L. McClain and Patrick McClain.
He also raised Jason A. McClain, son of W. L. McClain. In 2000 BJ retired and moved to Surfside Beach with his wife, Loy, where he has lived since.
He is survived by Loy B. McClain, William Leland McClain, Patrick McClain, Harold McClain, Betty Guthrie, Jason A. McClain, Bryant P. McClain, Cassidy McClain, and Ian McClain.
In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Loy B. McClain, 231 Beachcomber, Freeport, Texas 77541.

Our Dearest Uncle Bill....it has been several years and it seems just like yesterday we were sitting on the porch at the beach house enjoying you and Loy's company along with the great view, the birds while enjoying our morning coffee...I was in Chicago visiting my sister and my mom when I received that awful phone call....was not able to attend your funeral but you know that I was there...There are no words to describe how much we miss you and Loy...you are in a much better place...Someday we will be together again!!!
