Nancy Burton Backor was born in Winters, Texas, on November 5, 1931, to Clyde and Billie Burton and grew up in Carrizo Springs, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Ben Backor. Nancy suffered for several years from Parkinson's Disease. Her suffering ended when she passed away quietly at home on September 28, 2011.
Nancy had an interesting career: she taught kindergarten in Brazoria, wrote for the Brazosport Facts, and worked at Dow's Medical Department in Freeport for many years before retiring in 1992.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ben Backor, her three children, Cathi Backor, Ben (Beep) Backor (Sandra), and Mark Backor (Dawn), as well as five grandchildren, Stephanie Norris (Chad), Kristen Backor (Yaki Tsaig), Lauren Duke (Brandon), Brent Backor, and Lance Arnold, and 3 great-grandchildren. Nancy was dearly loved by her family and many friends and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Baylor College of Medicine and mailed to Parkinson's Disease and Research Laboratory, c/a Office of Development and Advancement, One Baylor Plaza, MS: BCM160, Houston, TX 77030 or to the church or charity of your choice.
Arrangements are by Lakewood Funeral Home, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank all of those caregivers who helped with Nancy during the past several years.

We did not know Nancy personally. But we expect that Nancy's son Ben is a reflection of her. That must mean she is a great person!
