James Allen Fisher Jr. was born on September 8, 1926, in San Angelo, TX, and died on November 1, 2011.
He was predeceased by his parents, James Allen Fisher Sr. and Myrtle Spencer Fisher.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathryn Fisher; his son, Robert and wife, Marie; his son, Richard Fisher; granddaughters, Elizabeth Matney and Katherine Fisher; sister, Wanda McWhorter; two step-children, Pamela Schwebel and Scott Jackson.
Doctor Fisher was a long-time practicing physician in the Brazosport area.
After earning his medical degree in 1954 from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, he moved with his family to Freeport where he worked in the old Freeport Clinic with Dr. A. O. McCary and Dr. W. D. Nicholson. He then moved his practice to Lake Jackson where he was a family doctor along with Dr. James Stewart and Dr. Henry May.
In the mid-70s, Dr. Fisher left his family practice to pursue a residency in anesthesiology at the Texas Medical Center in Houston.
He then returned to Lake Jackson to practice anesthesia. During this time he served as President of the Medical Staff and oversaw the building of the new Brazosport Memorial Hospital. He retired from practice in the Brazosport area in 1987.
Doctor Fisher had many wide-ranging interests including sailing, piloting his plane, lapidary, woodworking, ham radio and raising and training Arabian horses.
He also enjoyed countless rounds of golf for many years at Riverside Country Club. Other golfers will remember Dr. Fisher with his beloved dog Annie and later Miss Honey riding with him on his golf cart.
A celebration of Dr. Fisher's life will be held at a later date. If you wish to make a charitable contribution in Dr. Fisher's name, please make it to the Lake Jackson Humane Department, 141 Canna Lane.

We will remember Dr. Fisher's fun loving ways as well as his skills as a physician. He and my late husband, J. H., served the community well. My prayers are with you as you walk through this great loss of your husband, father and friend.
