Funeral services for Elvin Marion Powell, age 94, of Clute, Texas will be held at 10:30 a.m. November 21 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Chad Alexander officiating. Interment will be held at Restwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Lakewood Funeral Chapel at 9:00 a.m. on November 21.

Mr. Powell was born in Odom, TX on November 4, 1917, to Mary Vivian Henley Powell and Bill Herbert Powell. His parents and his sisters, Dorene Pender and Vivian Strong, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Ivah Terry Forbes Powell; son, Robert Elvin Powell; stepsons, Terry Forbes (Twila) and Keith Forbes (Dianne); stepdaughters, Linda Brannon (Oscar) and Sharon Blackman (Frank); nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild.

Mr. Powell served in the United States Navy in both the Korean War and WWII. He became a Master Mason in 1958, serving in many capacities throughout the years. He had been active in the Velasco Masonic Lodge, the Lake Jackson Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star of Velasco and Lake Jackson until recently. He had also taught many men their Masonic work. His Masonic brothers will serve as pallbearers.
