She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother De Wayne Bennett.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 32 years, Gary Blanchard, by 4 sons: Steven Blanchard of Freeport, Gary Blanchard, Jr and girlfriend Teresa of Angleton, Joshua Blanchard and fiance' Ashley of Alvin and Justin Blanchard of Freeport; by 3 grandchildren: Kaleb Blanchard, Hunter Blanchard and Mason Blanchard; by 1 step-son James Barnett and wife Brittany of Florida and his two children James and Dylan; by 1 sister: Nancy Davis and husband Pat of Lake Jackson; 4 brothers: John Bennett and wife Connie of Gulf Port, Mississippi, Carl Bennett and wife Cynthia of Hitchcock, Texas, Rufus Bennett of Freeport, Texas and by Wesley Bennett of Angleton, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. God Bless her best friends, Lisa and Larry Land.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Freeport Funeral Home.
The family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Gary and Teresa, So sorry to hear about your loss. We had never got to meet your Mom but I know she was very special to you. Teresa tried to keep us updated on her progress so it was really a shock to us as I am sure it was devistating for you and your family. My wonderful Aunt I miss you dearly. YOu will forever be in my Heart. I know you are not in pain and not suffering anymore you are our angel now.
