Joseph Edwin Ellerd was born 6-10-33 in Lubbock County, Texas to parents were Paul Issac Ellerd and Katy Beatrice Daugherty Ellerd. He had one older sister, Pauline Ellerd Wise.

Joe grew up in Plainview, Texas. He was always very mischievous, and was always in trouble for playing pranks. He married my mother on Dec 28, 1952. My mother passed away in Jan 1987. He married Thelma Gillespie in 1990. I believe she was the love of his life.

He and my mother had 3 children. I'm the oldest, then came my brothers Tim Ellerd, and the youngest Marc Ellerd. He is survived by his wife Thelma, all of his children, and 7 grandchildren, Dorian Staten, Misty Ellerd Stockman, Joshua Ellerd, Cory Shelby, Cortnee Antonacci-Ellerd, Jared Ellerd, Caislee Ellerd, and great grand daughter Christian Staten, and great grandsons Bryson Marrow and Jonah Marrow.

I'm not sure what year it was, but it was in the early 1990's, Daddy started his own pest control business. He helped get both of my brothers going in the business, and he eventually retired and turned it over to them.

The one thing I will always remember about my daddy is the way he loved to tease and joke around. He loved telling jokes.

On Tuesday morning, he took his morning nap, as he did everyday. But he never woke up from his nap.
