Funeral services for Bob Knodel, age 88, of Lake Jackson will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 16th at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson with Reverend Charles Geller officiating.
He is survived by his sons, Pete (Maria) Knodel and David Knodel; his daughter, JoAnne Knodel; his grandchildren, Andrew (Kelly) Miller and Elizabeth Miller; and great grandchildren Liana Eckert, Carsen Eckert, and Caroline Miller. He is the son of the late Louis J. Knodel and Helen Muller.
The family wishes to thank Maria Vallejo, Rosa Delgado and Korina Barnett for their compassion in caring for Bob in his final years.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 29, 1923 as Louis Robert Knodel, he soon came to be known to family and friends as "Bob". He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a master's degree in Chemistry. Bob and his wife Jane moved to Lake Jackson in 1957 and he worked at Dow Chemical as a research chemist until he retired in 1975.
Bob loved the outdoors and filled his retirement years with camping trips to Texas State Parks and weekly visits to Surfside beach for a swim and walk on the beach.
In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Friends of the Lake Jackson Library, 250 Circle Way, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566.
