Robert Leroy Rathbun was born February 25, 1937 to Clifford and Ruth Rathbun in Fayette, Iowa. He was one of four children. He is survived by his brother Duwayne Rathbun. He spent most of his life in Lake Orion, Michigan where he met and married Kathy Jones. Kathy died in 1976 after 9 years of marriage and 4 kids. Bob fell in love again and married Ernestine (Gooch) Largent in 1977 joining their blended family of 8 children. They were blessed by 34 wonderful years of loving & laughing & raising their family together until Ernestine died on June 23, 2011. He leaves behind their children Shelby Largent (Susan), Cindy Yates (Billy), Kevin Largent (Jana), Chuck Rathbun (Laura), Beth Ann Rathbun, Gail Gonzalez (Chris) and Sheryl Thomas (Brandon). Son, David Largent, preceded him in death. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces & nephews who loved him dearly. He was a member of the Lake Jackson Church of Christ and a true and faithful servant of the Lord. He was an elder and mentor to many and lived his life as a gentle and solid encourager. He loved his family unconditionally. He was a father who represented so well the love of our Heavenly Father. Those who knew him were blessed. We all miss him and long for the day when we are reunited in Heaven. Services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Lake Jackson Church of Christ. Visitation will be on Sunday July 1, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Lakewood Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Restwood Memorial Park Cemetery
