Mary Irene Sanders Dunaway, 95, of Jones Creek funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday,
August 14, 2013 at the Jones Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will be 1:00 pm until service time. Interment will be at Gulf Prairie Cemetery.

She was born May 6, 1918 in Huntsville, Texas. She and her brother James were raised by Mr. and Mrs. Ellis until Irene met and married Morgan Dunaway in 1938.
A few years later Morgan and Irene moved to Jones Creek to make their home. She became a member of the Jones Creek Baptist Church and she was involved in many activities at the church, her favorite was teaching children from the mid 1940's to the mid 1980's. She always made a point to visit her Sunday School students and anyone she knew in nursing homes.

Irene had the gift of making others welcome. Having a servants heart, she was known as a compassionate and encouraging friend to others.

In the early hours of August 11, 2013 Irene went home to the Lord and to be with her parents, her husband Morgan, brother James, sister-in-law, Gladys, and 2 nieces Mary Anne and Jamie Sue.
