Donald Avery Allen, 75, was born on October 31, 1938 in Higdon, Georgia and passed away, December 17, 2013 in his home in Jones Creek. Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Friday at Lakewood Chapel. Funeral services will be 10am Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Gulf Prairie Cemetery.

Don served his country in the U.S. Army at age 17 in 1955 and went abroad to Japan during his service time. He was a faithful Christian and led singing at the Jones Creek Assembly of God Church for many years. He was also a shrimp boat captain in the Freeport area for over 45 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ella Allen and his brother Andrew Allen.

Don is survived by his children Carolyn Oden and Donald Allen, Jr.,
five sisters Mae Davenport, Myrtle Walz, Lorene Hall, Ruth Keith, Shirley Walker,
three brothers William Allen, Daniel Allen, Kenneth Allen as well as his only grandchild, Mitchell Oden.
