Dexter James Sargent, III, 57, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away December 19, 2013 at his home. He was born November 18, 1956 in Freeport, Texas to Jimmy Sargent and Tommie Odom Sargent. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Dexter worked in the oil field industry, construction and retired as an operator from Dow Chemical Company.

He was a member and former president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 3111 Brazosport. Dexter was also a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge # 2200.

He is preceded in death by his father Jimmy Sargent. And step-father Verlin Charles Turner of Bluffton, Arkansas

Dexter is survived by his mother, Tommie Turner of Lake Jackson;
Daughter: Bambi Truitt and husband Cody of Arvada, Colorado;
son, Dexter James Sargent, IV of Abilene, Texas,
2 grandchildren: Gianna Sargent and Thor Truitt;
3 brothers: Donald Sargent and wife Libby of Angleton, Texas
Daniel Sargent and wife Vicki of Karnack, Texas,
Kevin Sargent of Cheyenne, Wyoming,
Sisters: Robin Turner of Lake Jackson, Kim Sargent of Kenefick, Texas, Janet Neyland and husband Wayne of Dequincy, Louisiana and Stepmother Ruby Sargent of LaPorte, Texas
numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends 7pm until 9pm Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Lakewood Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30am Friday, December 27, 2013 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel.
