Sue Franks Garrett was born to Willie and Jewel Franks in Center, Texas on September 13, 1937. She spent her early years in East Texas. Later, during her elementary school years, her family moved to Clute, where she lived most of her life. Sue graduated from Brazosport High School in 1955. That same year, she married the love of her life, Garland Garrett. In 1990, she and Garland moved to Angleton to be closer to their family. She retired in 1992 so that she could enjoy time with family and friends. Sue's greatest joys came from spending time with her dear family and friends. She considered it a priority for family to keep in touch and spend time with one another and she was instrumental in organizing reunions and holiday get-togethers. She especially loved her shopping excursions with her sisters and sisters-in-law.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Garland Garrett. She is also survived by daughters Susan Searcy and husband Dennis of Angleton and Raydene Ward of Brazoria. Sue's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of her eye. She was blessed with 3 grandchildren: Natalee Beaty and husband P.J. of Angleton, Chelsi Ward and husband Robby of Brazoria and Jerrod Ward and wife Fin of Oklahoma. Her grandchildren added more blessings to the family with 7 great-grandchildren: Morgan, Kaiden and Braxton Beaty, Cheyenne and Cody Lonis and Shaylee and Coy Ward. Sue is also survived by sisters in-law and brothers in-law Linda and Gary Scott of Marlin, Janniece and John Thomas of Temple and Jerry Garrett of Stranger, as well as her sweet neighbors Tammy, Byron, Bailey and Collin Hughes and dear friends June Stephenson and Sue Allen. Sue also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Jewel Franks, siblings Bernice Davis and husband D.I., Lucille Parker and husband Howard, Joann Davis and husband Buck, J.W. Franks and wife Joyce, Rayford Franks and wife Aileen and Glen Franks and wife Betty, sister-in-law Janice Garrett and grandson Cody Ward.
Pallbearers will be Randy Jones, Brian Jones, Donald Thomas, Chuck Layton, Jerry Ramsey and Jerry Franks. Honorary Pallbearers are her nephews.
The family would like to send a special appreciation to Angleton Visiting Nurses. The family will host visitation at Lakewood Funeral Home in Clute on Wednesday evening, January 15th from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. A celebration of her life and graveside burial service will be held on Saturday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. at Stranger Community Church and Cemetery in Stranger, Texas. Online condolences can be made at www.lakewoodfuneralchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
