Gail Ann Sebastian

of Richwood, TX

February 29, 1956 - June 21, 2014

  • Guestbook
On Saturday June 24th, 2014 my Gail Ann Sebastian passed peacefully and painlessly from this earth to be with her sweet Jesus. She was at home in Richwood and we were holding hands. She was born on February 29, 1956 in Dayton, OH, and was with us a short 58 years.

She was preceded in death by her Mom (Mary Sebastian) and Dad (A.C. Sebastian - who was a decorated war veteran). They lived in Florida. She is survived by her sister Patricia (Sissy) Flora of Prumaan, Ark. She is also survived by me, her hubby, Pat Wade of Richwood, TX. Not to mention her multitude of friends and adopted family, especially her little sis Cherie Guillory and her kids of Katy TX, and the additional kids added by our union: Erin and Kent Booke and Molly and Taylor Wade of Dallas, TX. The most favorite of all of us is her new grandbaby Samuel Leo Booke. She could not get enough of his face, voice and laughter.

This sweet and strong soul was always the Mama that could take someone in turmoil, sorrow or grief and bring them comfort to help ease the pain. She was with the Diamond Offshore family for 13 years taking care of her "hairy legged little boys" (rig managers).

After she left Diamond, this continued, in her service to her community in Richwood, TX, in helping the Richwood Police Department. This began when she and her hubby brought enough barbeque to feed the entire police and city staff during the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, knowing that they had worked for two to three days with little to no break. A few of the officers were so overwhelmed by her generosity, they broke down in tears, and in her wonderful style some of you remember, she gave kind words and big hugs. The "Feed our Buds" has become and shall remain a yearly tradition for years to come.

She loved and supported our folks in Galveston as we were repairing and rebuilding the Port of Galveston Piers. She would make the ride along for the night time concrete pours to make sure all was safe.

Everyone who knew her will remember the love, laughter, kindness and willingness to help others.

We cannot express in words the appreciation we have for our friends at Helping Hands and Hearts Hospice. Thank you folks for everything you did to help my Gail Ann. You are truly angels on this earth and you will forever be in my thoughts and prayers.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, July 11th, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. at the Richwood City Hall, 1800 N. Brazosport Blvd., Richwood, Texas.

Final arrangements made by the Turner Family at the Lakewood Funeral Home. Online Condolences by made to the family at www.lakewoodfuneralchapel.com

Gail Ann was my first cousin. Her mother Mary and my mother Thelma were sisters. We lost with Gail after she moved to Texas and have tried in vain over the last few years to find her again. I just ran across this obituary and was saddened to hear that I would not see her again in this world, but please to know I will see her again some day. Thank you for loving her and providing such a beautiful memory of her.

Gail, was one of the Sweetiest person I have met. She had a Huge Heart and used to call all of us in Operations (her boys). She was very protective of all of us as we were being trained in our new jobs. Gail was like a Mom to us and I will never forget her. RIP Gail, you will never be forgotten.

I met Ms Gail soon after moving to Houston and taking an office job. She was truly a remarkable woman who always was ready to help you if needed. I never will forget the morning she came running into the morning meeting conference room and turn on the TV which was located at the end of the room while saying that one of the New York Tower had been hit by a plane. The group watch the second plane hit the second tower and our world changed that day. Ms Gail will be miss by many, may she rest in peace.

Gail Ann was a friend as well as a co-worker. I could always depend on her to tell me what the "boys" were up to and where the rigs were going. She had an infectious laugh that immediately made my day brighter. She was a very caring woman who will be missed by many. I am blessed to have been a small part of her too short life.
Rest in Peace, Gail Ann, I know you are smiling.

My Dearest Friend Gail…..You and I became friends and confidants soon after we met. I recall with much laughter our weekend girls trip to Dallas….we sang the whole way up and back. ''Big Bad John'' will always make me think of you. We compared notes on our past and our upbringing which were very similar. We had many late-nights consoling each other over life's curveballs. I knew I could confide in you whenever I needed advice. I know you are singing with the angels now and that comforts me. I will always keep your memory alive in my heart. Pat, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this most difficult time. Though she was fairly quiet and never sought to bring attention to herself, everyone loved her. I will always think of her as one of my dearest friends. May you rest in peace, Boo…..you will be missed.

Please allow me to offer my condolences to the, Sebastian family with these comforting words: IT IS painful to watch a loved one suffer and die. We naturally grieve such a loss. It is comforting to know, however, that our Creator understands our grief. More than that, he longs to use his almighty power to restore life to the dead. Notice the hope conveyed in the words of Job, recorded at Job 14:13-15. I am very sorry for your loss. May God's Word comfort you and your family. Sincerely, Meryl

I met Gail when she interviewed me for a job in June of 2005. I knew right away that we were going to be friends, and told her so. She must've thought I was a little crazy that day. That's okay, because not only did we become friends, we became family. My heart is breaking at her loss. But I will always remember her and cherish the friendship and excellent times we had together.
