John Dan Wier left this earth on February 1, 2015 at the age of 61. He was born August 19, 1953 in Freeport. Dan grew up in the Brazosport area and attended Brazosport High School class of 1972. He loved sports, talking shop, his numerous friends, and especially his family. He was a loving brother, father, grandfather, and friend to many. If he didn't give you grief he didn't love you!

Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Regina Wier in 1974, his father R.M. "Doc" Wier in 1991, and his mother Mary Virginia Wier in 2012.

Dan is survived by his two sons John II (Kenzie), Red Oak, TX and Daniel (Chelsa), San Angelo, TX. Four grandchildren; Christopher, Lestat, Leona and Lila. He was also survived by his younger sister, Darlene Wier, Freeport, TX.

A memorial service will be held at the Freeport First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made towards his memorial to The Wier Family, 1118 W 6th St., Freeport, TX 77541.

I saw Dan just a couple of weeks ago in the Baywood parking lot. We talked for 10 min or so. He always had a story, mainly about the old days. We would run into each other often. Darlene, may you and his children feel The Lord's comforting peace!
