My thoughts and prayers go out to Uncle Hammett's family. My relationship with Uncle Hammett was through my grandfather, Crawford Buford. I'm sorry I can't be at the services, however I will be there in spirit. May God bless you.

Mr. South was a good friend to my mom, Lydia Thomas and me. I introduced us to him one day at the Velasco Baptist Church in Freeport years ago. I got him started in going to the Senior Citizen lunchen at the church on Monday mornings.. The group that came brought food and we always played 42 dominos. After the game, he would always go to mama's and we played straight dominos.
While I stayed with my mom on Sundays and Mondays, Mr. South would always come to mom's house and we would have chicken and dumplings, after we played dominos. He loved to play.
I know he was always talking about wanting to go fishing.
Sometimes Mike would take him.
He is now in a better place and will get to do all the fishing he wants to.
