Jonathan Randell Bluejacket
6/12/1928 - 4/1/2016
Jonathan Randell Bluejacket, of Lake Jackson, passed away at the age of 87, into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, on Friday, April 1, 2016. He left peacefully to be reunited with his beloved wife, Alice.
John was born in Dewey, Oklahoma, on June 12, 1928. While growing up in Bluejacket, Oklahoma, he met the love of his life, Alice Ermajean Hollandsworth. During their 64 years of marriage they were blessed with seven children and an ever growing family.
Before residing in Texas, John served in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, he was stationed at both Ft. Leavenworth and Ft. Riley, Kansas. After two tours in Korea, and 20 years in the service, he retired from the Army in 1967. John spent his years in Texas working for the Coca-cola Company and later for Amstate Self Storage. Although John had a strong work ethic, his two passions were his love for God and his love for his family. He served as deacon for the First Baptist Church, "The Anchor" in Surfside, Texas for over 30 years. He was a true man of God and instilled in others that same love for the Lord and the importance of faith and family. One of his greatest joys was singing alongside and listening to his children sing their praises.
"Grandpa"
Grandpa was a busy man, always going and going, running errands for Grandma and picking up us kids here or taking us there. Yet, he always had time to stop for a hug or kiss. He would make us giggle when we would look over and see him taking one of his five minute naps, only to have him wake up and smile when he realized he had passed out. He made sure our lives were full of faith, music, love… and food, as most of those errands for Grandma were to the store. He may have left us, but we know he is with Grandma. Hopefully she doesn't already have him running around. It's been a long time coming, but that doesn't make it easier. We love and miss you, Always.
