Travis Lee Roper

Travis Lee Roper passed peacefully from this life on May 9, 2016. He was born December 15, 1929, to Jerry M. Roper and Lonie Brown Roper in Atlanta, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Roper, four daughters, Vicki Wunderlich and husband , Mike, Michele Wilson and husband , David, Sandra Moore and husband , Randy, and Mary Cronk and husband , Dale. He is survived by ten grandchildren, Tiffany and husband , Shaun, Travis and fiancée , Cindy, Mindy and husband , Allen, Misty, Danny and wife , Kenzie, Brian and wife , Courtney, Kelly and husband , John, Royce and wife , Linda, Brock, Shelby, and Clay. In addition, he leaves 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his mother ; father ; and sister , Mamie Strickland and husband , Z.D ; and grandparents , Jasper and Mamie Brown .

As a young man he served with the U.S. Naval Reserve for two years and Army Air Force for four years. After his discharge from service, he met Paula and after a whirlwind courtship of four months they were married on December 25, 1952, and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. He was baptized into the Lord in 1957, and served Him faithfully as a teacher, deacon, and elder in the church of Christ. After his retirement, he and his wife were members of the Lake Jackson Church of Christ for 19 years.

Funeral arrangements are with Lakewood Funeral Home with a visitation Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., a private family burial Friday morning, and memorial service at 12:00 noon at the Lake Jackson Church of Christ with Allen Ritchie officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Travis Wunderlich, Danny Wilson, Brian Moore, Royce Moore, Brock Farias and John Swallow.
