Henry Homer Gretschel

Henry Homer Gretschel went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2016.
Visitation services will be at the Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson on Friday, June 3 from 6:00 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be at Willow Drive Baptist Church, at 9:30am Saturday, June 4, 2016, Lake Jackson with burial services following at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in West Columbia. Henry was born to Henry and Ida Kassler Gretschel in Guy, Texas on October 2, 1934. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Muriel Baumruk and his wife of 58 years, Joyce Ann Gretschel. He is survived by his wife, Etta Joyce Gaubatz Gretschel of Angleton. Henry is survived by his son Mike and daughter-in-law Paulette of Canyon Lake. Their son Christopher and his wife Kellie Gretschel live in San Antonio with their three children Tyler, Ryan and Claire.
Henry is also survived by his daughter Sheri and son-in-law Dennis Edwards of Rosharon. His son John and wife Kim Edwards live in Strafford, MO with their children Alex and Adam. His daughter Jennifer Edwards lives in Kansas City, MO with son Peter. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Debbie and husband Bob Ed Johnson of Lake Jackson, and brother-in-law Glenn Warny of West Columbia. Nieces and nephews include: Mary Lambert and husband Butch of Possum Kingdom, Mabel Willy and husband Mike of Austin, Jared Johnson and wife, Shelby, of Katy, Jamie Glockzin and her husband Chris of Lake Jackson, and Jeff and Clint Warny of West Columbia, and great nephews and nieces. Henry lived in Lake Jackson for 60 years where he was a member of Willow Drive Baptist Church, serving as Chairman of Deacons, and Sunday School teacher to the youth. He was an avid camper and bird watcher and enjoyed running. He also enjoyed playing dominos and cards with his many friends.
Pall bearers will be Chris Gretschel, Jared Johnson, Jeff Warny, Clint Warny, John Edwards, Chris Glockzin and James Hanna. Honorary pall bearers are Glenn Warny, Wayne O'Daniel, Jesse Blume, Don Blaschke and Art Ramirez.
