Betty Jane Mallory

Betty Jane Mallory, 82, of Jones Creek passed away September 20, 2016, in Angleton. Betty was born to William H. and Ruby Virginia Andrews Stewart on August 22, 1934 in Marianna, Arkansas. She and Joe Mallory were married 61 years. While raising their three children, and helping Joe with the cattle, in the late 1970's, she and Joe built and operated Mallory's Drive Inn in Jones Creek, where she cooked the local favorite, the char burger. Later she worked in the bakery department at Kroger's in Freeport. She loved seeing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love of people allowed her to never meet a stranger. Her strength and love will be with us forever. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, step-father A.G. Stewart, her bother Donald Wayne Stewart. She is survived by her husband Joe V. Mallory, children, Steve Mallory (Patricia), Donna Mallory (Robby), and Brenda Trahan (Chico), brother William Andrews and wife Wanda of Bonaire, GA. Four grandchildren Crystal Huggins (Justin), Bradley Lytle(Carrie), Hannah Smith (Josh) and Brad Mallory (Tiffani), and seven great-grandchildren, Reagan, Hunter, Gage, Colton, Mallory, Andrew, Jacob and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Robby Gilliam, Sr., Bradley Lytle, Brad Mallory, Rodger Mallory, Chico Trahan, Rodney Meriwether, and Kenneth Wayne Ruddick. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel with interment in Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek, TX. Paster Leo Wleczyk officiating. In lieu of flower memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
