Darrel Wayne Bennett
3/28/1964 - 9/24/2016

On Saturday, the 24th of September, 2016, heaven gained another angel; Darrel Wayne Bennett peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Darrel was born on March 28, 1964, in which he would later share that date of birth with his son. In his early years, Darrel enjoyed a variety of activities from baseball to tormenting his brothers and sisters. He was a jokester and always loved to make people smile and laugh. Later in life, his passion for sports never wavered. If he wasn't watching his only son play baseball and tennis, he was watching it on television. Darrel also enjoyed hunting and fishing. You could usually find him fishing at his favorite "honey hole" or at his sister's ranch hunting hogs and varmints. Besides his love of sports and outdoor activities, the one thing that never changed about Darrel was his kindness. He was the kind of person that made sure you were taken care of before himself. He might be behind on his own bills, but he would make sure you had a full tank of gas. He never passed judgment and always tried to put himself in the other person's shoes. That was just Darrel.

Darrel left behind a loving family. They will all miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Mary Borowicz and James Monroe and Rosa Lee Bennett; his father, James W. Bennett; his brother, Larry J. Bennett; and his godparents, Steve and Helen Borowicz.

He is survived by his only son James M. Bennett; his mother, Vera I. Bennett; his brother, Raymond J. Bennett; his sister, Cindy A. West; sister-in-law, Mary Kate Bennett; brother-in-law, Gene E. West; nephews, Justin Bennett, Jeremy Bennett and wife, Martha Bennett; niece, Lisa M. West; and many other loving relatives. He also left behind many wonderful friends who considered Darrel just as much a part of their family as they were a part of his.

To continue on Darrel's kind and giving nature, his organs were donated to Life Gift so he can continue helping people and even saving lives long after his passing.
There will be a Visitation at Lakewood Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 01, 2016 from 12:00pm-2:00pm with service at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in memorial of Darrel to the Alzheimer's Association. Donations can be made online at www.alz.org. Please help us keep Darrel's giving spirit alive.
