In Loving Memory of Margie Faulkner Barnes
Margie Barnes was born on August 18,1926 to Audrey Davidson Faulkner and Grady Richard Faulkner in New Baden, TX. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 30, 2016 in Lake Jackson, TX surrounded by her family after a courageous four year battle with cancer. Margie grew up in West Houston where her aunt and mother owned The Two Sister's Cafe on Washington Ave. At age 10, her mother remarried and they moved to Tomball and then Freeport, TX. She attended Freeport High School where she met and married the love of her life, Gerald Devore Barnes. They married on January 15,1943 while Gerald was home on leave from the Navy. They would spend 63 wonderful years together before he passed to Heaven in 2005. Gerald and Margie had a remarkable bond that served as a great example of true love to their whole family. Margie went to Floral Design school and began a career as a florist. She would later open her own flower shop, Brazosport Flowers in Freeport, TX. Margie was a very loving mother to Gerald D. Barnes Jr and wife Geraldine, Danny Lee Barnes and wife Janis and Timothy Wayne Barnes. She was a caring grandmother to Rhonda Barnes Womack and husband Brent, Brad Barnes, Jason Barnes and wife Buffy, Ryan Barnes, Jeffrey Barnes, Kristi Barnes Fisher and husband Michael and Sean Barnes. She also had 9 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren. She referred to all of them as "sweet darlin" so she would never call anyone the wrong name. Margie was a very kind-hearted and caring spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her family and reminiscing on the old times. She loved telling funny stories and jokes. She could tell the same story over and over and enjoy it every time. She would always say before telling her story, "If you've heard this one before, don't stop me because I want to hear it again." Above all she will always be remembered as an amazing mother and "Mona" or "Ma" to all her family. Her signature was "5M's" for Mom, Mona, Ma, Margie and Mother. She was the monarch of the family and those 5 M's represented her well. She loved each one of her family and friends very much and made sure each one of them knew it. Margie was member at First Baptist Church. She was a very devoted Christian and always trusted in the Lord. Towards the end of her life, she looked forward to meeting her Savior as well as reuniting with her husband and family who are in Heaven. Margie passed at 90 years young. She and her husband lived in many places throughout their married lives. After Gerald's passing, she moved to Plantation Villa in Lake Jackson and fell in love with the people and staff. When her health declined, she moved to a very caring assisted living community, Carriage Inn in Lake Jackson, TX. The family would like to give special thanks to both Plantation Villas and Carriage Inn for their compassion and kindness they extend to their residents. Family will receive visitation on November 03, 2016 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at Turner Funeral Chapel on November 03, 2016 at 2:00pm. By the request of Margie, her pallbearers will be her grandsons Brad Barnes, Jason Barnes, Jeffrey Barnes, Sean Barnes, Brent Womack. Her granddaughters Rhonda Barnes Womack and Kristi Barnes Fisher and great grandsons Braydon Womack and Bryson Womack. Margie will be missed by so many. The memories and stories her family and friends have of her will be cherished forever. As Margie would often say, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"
