Lula Frances Gunselman

Lula Frances Gunselman, 84, of Freeport, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Kindred Hospital in Sugar Land. Frances was born October 27, 1932, in Bryan, Texas to Edna and R.L. Bailey. In 1950, she met V.L. Biggs. They were married that year at the age of seventeen. Together they had four children. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and R.L. Bailey; daughter, Lara P. McCoy Biggs; ex-husband, V.L. Biggs; second ex-husband, Hercal Neal Pettit; and oldest son, Lee M. Biggs. She is survived by her son, Lloyd Biggs, of Freeport, TX; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. Frances worked for A&P (Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co.) part-time but mostly she worked for Kroger from 1950 to 1997; originally Kroger in Freeport was Henke & Pillet from '50 to ' 57. In 1974, she and her second husband, H.L. Pettit, adopted a child and she alone raised Andrea Lynn Pettit, and subsequently all seven of Andrea's children.
