Juanita Jean Long
8/21/1950 - 1/24/2017
Sis. Juanita Jean Long crossed over into that Heavenly City on January 24, 2017 surrounded by her beloved family. Two weeks prior, Sis. Long had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). Although her spirit remained strong, her physical body was not able to overcome the challenges brought upon by the disease, and God mercifully called her to enter the kingdom of Heaven. Born August 21, 1950, Sis. Long grew up in Brazoria, Texas, graduating from Columbia High in 1968. Eager to continue her education, she attended The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1978. Survivors include her son, John Long and daughter-in-law, Jonika, of Freeport; two daughters, Rachel Long, of Austin and Leah Long Joseph and son-in-law, Gachener Joseph, of Austin; and a host of other family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson, TX. All contributions made to Sis. Long's children to deflect funeral expenses.
