Linda Kay Day
11/13/1950 - 4/6/2017
Linda Kay Day, age 66 of Lake Jackson, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, April 6, 2017. She was born to the late Louis and Aline Barnett on November 13, 1950. Linda grew up in Elysian Fields, Texas on Jaybird Road. She attended Elysian Fields High School where she was a drum major, twirler and basketball player. After graduating from high school Linda attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches where she received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Elementary Education. Linda's true passion was her family. She was an extraordinary mother and wife who loved her husband of forty two years, Albert Day, and their three sons, Stephen Day, Michael Day, and Allen Day unconditionally and with deep passion. She was so pleased to welcome Erin, Michael's wife and Carley, Stephen's wife to their family and was thrilled to finally have daughters. Her ultimate family blessing was when she became Yaya to Travis and Abigail Day. Linda is remembered as a loving and caring teacher. She started her career in special education. Her ability to teach children through association and cues was remarkable and benefited many who entered her class room. After taking a break to raise her boys, Linda returned to Elizabet Ney as a kindergarten teacher where she was adored by her many students, parents and coworkers. Linda had a passion for music and played the piano by ear. She spread that joy down the halls of Ney, parading with her dear co-teacher, Robin Lapier, and students. She wrote and directed plays for her students and performed them to the delight of the parents. Her legacy will continue at Ney through the school song for which she composed both the music and lyrics. There are few words to describe the beautiful person Linda was. Her love and compassion for friends and family was always heart felt. You never left Linda's house hungry, she made the best fried shrimp, cookies, and brownies ever. She loved to give to her friends and family, always knowing what their heart desired. Flowers and plants bloomed with her touch and could be seen in her beautiful yard where she spent many hours. For those blessed by Linda's love, we will always cherish her beautiful smile, her loving nature and her compassion for life. In addition to her loving family, she is survived by her sister Mary Williams and her husband John-Ben, her niece Frances Treadway, nephew Ben Williams, her life long best friend Brenda Deblance, and her special loved ones, Braeden, Ella, and Laura Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Glen Barnett. A Memorial service celebrating Linda's life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church on Wednesday April 12, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. Please join the family for a meal following the service in the Life in Christ Center, 86 Plantation Dr. Lake Jackson, TX 77566
