Floyd Ellis Hamlet

Floyd Ellis Hamlet, 82, of Clute passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. He was born Feb. 10, 1935 in Minden, Texas to Enoch Hamlet and Vallie Whitten Hamlet. The family moved to Clute in 1950. Floyd married Joyce Cummings on Oct. 3, 1953. He worked for the city of Clute and as an independent contractor for many years. Floyd was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clute. He loved camping, fishing and spending time with friends from church. Floyd married Joyce Markwardt on Feb. 14, 2011 and has been his faithful companion for the past six years. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Joyce Cummings Hamlet, and his brother, Leon Hamlet. He is survived by his wife Joyce of Clute, 3 children: Robert Hamlet and wife Donna of Clute; Sharon Bohon and husband Ronnie of Lake Jackson; Brenda Smith and husband Tom of League City; 2 step sons: Bobby Hatcher of Clute; Jimmy Lowry and wife Anna of Corpus Christi; 6 grandchildren: Jamie Fraz and husband; K.J.; Rachel Huntington and husband Kerry; Sarah Dunn and husband John, Susan Pettijohn and husband Josh; Michael Smith and wife Monica; Matthew Smith and wife Robyn; 7 step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren: Andrew, Alaina, Aiden, Chase, Will, Autumn, Wyatt, Summer, Natalie, Emma, Ryan, Abby, Milo, Melody, Beau, Austin, brother, Johnny Hamlet and wife Jerri of Clute, 2 sisters: Kathleen Little of Freeport, Marie Freeman of Brazoria, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends 1pm until service time at 3pm Monday, May 1, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Clute. Interment will follow at Restwood Cemetery. Floyd dearly love his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Arrangements by the Turner family.
