Joshua Glen Matusek,36, of West Columbia, passed away April 29, 2017 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born September 1, 1980 in Freeport, Texas. He was preceded in death by brother Brandon Matusek and grandparents: Melba and Thomas Amason and his grandmother, Lou Alice Matusek. Joshua is survived by 3 children: Brandon Green of Lake Jackson, Texas, Sky Matusek of Killen, Alabama, Katelyn Matusek of Killen, Alabama, his father Frank Matusek, Jr. and wife Cyless of Leander, Texas, mother Robin Taylor of Freeport, step-father Joe Taylor of Freeport, grandfather, Frank John Matusek, Sr. of Wild Peach, and sister, Andrea Luna and husband Andrew of Freeport.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to University of Alabama Medical Center; Gift Records Office-AB1230; 1720 2nd Avenue South (Put in memo on check: Burn and Trauma Ward) Birmingham, Alabama 35294-1112.

The family will receive friends 6pm until 8pm Friday, May 5, 2017 at Lakewood Chapel. Funeral services will be 10am Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bob Hankins. Interment at Restwood Cemetery.

Pall bearers will be: Brandon Green, Jake Stamport, Andrew Luna, Daniel Muraira, Bill Lott, and Chad Tidwell. Honorary pall bearer will be: Joe Taylor, Frank Matusek, Sr., and Byron Smedley.

Joshua was a vibrant free spirit full of life who loved to spend time with his family, friends and loved fishing.
