William Alexander Baker
2/1/1961 - 5/30/2017
William Alexander Baker, 56 of Lake Jackson, passed away peacefully at his home in his favorite chair on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Born on February 1, 1961 to Mary Baker and the late Stephen Baker, William grew up in the Havenwood Subdivision in Richwood. He loved to tell of his adventures with his brothers and best friends in Havenwood. He graduated from Brazoswood High School in May of 1979. In August of 1980, William enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years stationed in Utah. That's where he first fell in love with snow skiing. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, William returned to the Lake Jackson area where he went to work for Dow Chemical. He would have celebrated 30 years of service in September. His colleagues became some of his greatest friends, and they affectionately referred to him as "Shake-N-Bake." Soon after starting at Dow, William fell for the love of his life and best friend, Gigi Cadenhead. On April 8, they celebrated 28 years of marriage during which they were blessed with two wonderful boys, Barrett and Blaine. William loved to fish and spent many days in the waterways in our areas with his friends. He loved classic rock and was always jamming to Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rush, and Boston to name a few. He had a thousand comebacks for everything; he was a constant wit and loved to give everyone around him a hard time. That was his way of showing love. William was at home behind a barbeque pit. Feeding his family, friends, and coworkers brought him great joy. William loved his home, loved working on his home and creating a beautiful place for Gigi and their boys to live. He loved to travel especially to any mountains that involved snow skiing with his family. William and Gigi took their boys on countless trips, snow skiing in Colorado, driving through the Ozarks, and sight-seeing at the Grand Canyon. William and Gigi were blessed to go on an anniversary trip last year to Ohio, New York State, Niagara Falls, and Montauk Island where they both reconnected with old friends. But his favorite destination will always be the Frio River. William is preceded in death by his father, Stephen Baker, and two brothers, Stephen Baker and John Robert Baker. His memory will live on with his wife, Gigi Baker, and his sons, Barrett Baker (wife Brenda) and Blaine Baker. He will continue to be loved by his mother, Mary Baker, his in-laws, Claire and Earl Cadenhead, his sister Suzie Wessels (husband David), his brother Mark Baker (wife Sonja), his sister-in-law Schelli Martin (husband Jim), and his brother-in-law Chuck Cadenhead (wife Lisa). All the fun times spent with Uncle William will be remembered by his nieces and nephews, Brandyn Hargrove (husband David), Emilye Rodgers (husband Dean), Annie Shandley (husband Darren), Brooks Cadenhead, Cade Cadenhead, Joey Baker, Katie Riseman (husband Evan), Angelica Baker, Kevin Baker (wife Colleen), Cara Wessels, and Steve Wessels, and eight great nieces and nephews, including Carter Hargrove who loved his "Uncle Wiggum." We take comfort in knowing that William has seen the face of Jesus, and we will see him again one day in paradise. We will celebrate his life with a visitation at 1 pm on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Brazos Pointe Fellowship, 679 Hwy 332, Lake Jackson, TX with funeral service immediately following at 2 pm. William's final resting place will be one last float down the Frio River, "the river you remember for a lifetime."
