JESSE J. HERNANDEZ, 90, of Lake Jackson, Texas, went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 11, 2017. He was born on April 17, 1927, in Cuero, Texas, to Manuel and Maria Euphemia Hernandez. He led his family to the Lake Jackson area in the early 1970's to work for Dow Chemical Company. He was a devout member of St. Michael's Catholic Church for over 45 years, including Knights of Columbus and serving as a Eucharistic Minister and usher. He also participated in the American Legion. His affectionate heart was always displayed in caring for others. Dad loved being with his family. He always led by example and stressed faith, hope, and love. Dad and Mom were married June 17, 1951, on Father's Day. Therefore, this Father's Day weekend, they would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. It is no coincidence they will be reunited in Heaven this Father's Day weekend. What a joyous reunion that will be! It is his testament to the Sacrament of Marriage. One of his greatest pleasures was being chosen for the first WWII Honor Flight sponsored by Dow Chemical Company. Jesse was preceded in death by his lovely bride in 2014, Theresa Ramirez Hernandez; and brothers, Ben Hernandez and Manuel (Sonny) Hernandez. He will be so greatly missed by his five children, Roland Hernandez of Houston, Terri Linda Sanchez (Ruben), Jesse Hernandez, Jr., and Anna Tullos (Alan), all of Lake Jackson, John Hernandez of Houston; six grandchildren, Lesley Emmons (Keith); Tiffany Sanchez, Brittany Sanchez, Trent Tullos, Alanna Tullos, Alissa Tullos and Gunnar Girod; three great-grandchildren, Isabel and Gabrielle Emmons, Easton Girod; four sisters and their families, Lupe Escamilla, Mary Aguirre, Helen Benavidez and Cris Arevalo; and numerous relatives, cousins, and admiring friends. The family of Jesse Hernandez would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time, and IPH Hospice Care Team. On June 14, 2017, the family will receive family and friends 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church (www.smlj.org) 100 Oak Drive South, Lake Jackson, Texas 77566. Rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Monsignor Leo Wleczyk and Deacon Forse officiating. Pallbearers are Gilbert Arriaga, Keith Emmons, Henry Garcia, Austin Phillips, Ruben Sanchez, and John Taylor. Any expressions of support may be made in honor of Jesse Hernandez to the Knights of Columbus or St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Michael's Catholic Church.
