Harry Blevins Jr, 95, of Clute, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017. He was born October 11, 1921 in St. Charles, Michigan. Harry has been a resident of Clute, Texas since 1952. He retired from Dow Chemical after 40 years and retired from Brazoria County Precinct 1 after 14 years. Harry served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, served on the Clute City Council for 10 years, named Brazoria County Citizen of the Year in August 1999, umpired baseball and softball for 40 years and was inducted into the Texas Hall of Honor for Umpires. Harry is survived by his wife, Vangie Blevins of Clute; and children, Jeanette Blevins Mathews, Mike "Bucc" Blevins (Tammi) and Lou Ann Blevins Allen (John). Harry has two children from a previous marriage, Harry "Jim" Blevins (Michelle) and Becky Blevins Oversmith. Grandchildren are Zane Mathews (Shannon), Shea Blevins, Rachel Allen, Tyler Allen, Eric Blevins, Michael Mansour, Jilnar Mansour and Andre Mansour; and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Clute. Pallbearers will be Zane Mathews, Shea Blevins, Michael Dodge, Mark Broaddus, Richard Vallot, Ronnie Broaddus, Rubin Phelps, and Randy Smith. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Alkesh C. Amin, the staffs of Country Village Care and CHI St. Luke's Brazosport Hospital. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church of Clute, Texas, or any organization of your choice.
