Floyd Duane Phy

Floyd Duane Phy, 91, of Clute, Texas passed away peacefully in Angleton, TX on Sunday, August 23, 2020.
He was born August 8, 1929 in Collin Co. Texas, the firstborn to Floyd Clinnie Phy and Hazel Mae Darr Phy. He grew up in Garland, Wichita Falls and Terrell. He graduated from Terrell High School in 1948. He met Peggy Joan Reed at Calvary Baptist Church in Wichita Falls. They were married on February 26, 1949. They moved to Garland and started their family. Duane worked as a carpenter and other various jobs. He was called to preach on July 4, 1952 in Vernon, TX and was ordained by the Calvary Baptist Church of Wichita Falls. He preached everywhere and at any time someone would allow him to, including the radio. He started a mission in east Garland, TX in 1953 that became Belt Line Baptist Church. He pastored there from 1953 to 1969. Then he moved to Clute, TX and pastored the First Baptist Church. He retired as pastor in 1996. He and Peggy moved to Lake Livingston. Even in retirement Bro. Phy was still involved in the ministry by preaching revivals, fellowships, conferences and he officiated countless weddings and funerals. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
He is survived by five children, Floyd D. Phy, Jr (Butch) and Peggy of Clute, Joe Phy and Vikki of Fort Worth, Steve Phy and Gloria of The Woodlands, Donna Hamlet and Robert of Clute, Cheryl Ferguson and Joel of Hurst, thirteen grandchildren, Lance Phy, Justin Phy, Wendi Cartwright, Kaye Dee Lutes, Ean Phy, Jenny Phy, Amanda Rainey, Jonathan Phy, Rachel Huntington, Sarah Dunn, Josh Ferguson, Katie Mayfield, and Lauren Snyder; twenty seven great-grandchildren, Peyton, Natalie, Emma, Drew, Hana, Jase, Noah, Heather, Shelby, Bailey, Haiden, Reece, River, Lindsey, Lexie, Chase, Will, Autumn, Wyatt, Summer, Ella, Lane, Ace, Jack, Reese, Reagan, and Blake; and five great great-grandchildren; his b rother Finis Phy and JoAnn; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Special thanks to the staff at Country Village in Angleton for all their loving care and to the A Med Hospice team who care d for our dad.
Due to the covid pandemic the family will have a private grave side service.
A Memorial service will be planned for a later date.
