Roy Maxwell, Jr.

Roy Maxwell, Jr., 78, peacefully passed away Sunday December 12, 2021 in his home.
Roy was born in Jacksonville, Texas on March 9, 1943 to Roy Maxwell, Sr., and Opal Henderson Maxwell. Grew up in Leggett, Texas through the 8th grade. Moved to Livingston, Texas for the rest of his school years while also establishing his love for fishing.
He started his career at Cameron Iron Works in Houston, Texas until 1969. In 1969, he began his lifelong career at Dow Chemical and making Richwood, Texas home for his family. Starting out in the Plant B Mag Casting as an operator, working as a run stacker and furnace operator. Later in his career, he moved to the shop working as a boilermaker/welder. Retired from the Glycol unit of Dow Chemical in February 1999.
During his life, his passion for fishing expanded to include hunting. After retirement, he built motors for dirt track race cars then started working on small engines. When he wasn't busy, he enjoyed working in his yard, watching Woody chase the ball, comparing output of his tomato plants, catching up on emails/Facebook, and watching TV. His favorite TV programs includes watching and rooting for Duke Blue Devils, old westerns, Swamp People, Deadliest Catch among others.
Roy was preceded in death by his adorned pet, Woody, his parents Roy and Opal Maxwell, mother of his children, Lois Vitek Maxwell, sister Geneva (Jenny) Anderson, and niece Janoda Kay Lev. He is survived by his daughter Lynette Maxwell of Angleton, Texas, son Douglas Maxwell and wife Robin of Danbury, Texas, his youngest daughter Suzanne Maxwell and wife Shana of Lake Jackson, Texas and his grandchildren Cole and Monica Maxwell of Danbury, Texas, and Fisher and Saylor Maxwell of Lake Jackson, Texas.
Special thanks to his caretakers Leola Mitchell-Herron, Linda Alexander, and Tony Daily among others that were ready to be there to assist.
Visitation and Service will be at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, Lake Jackson, Texas. Visitation starting at 11:00am until service at 12:00pm Monday, December 27, 2021.
In lieu of flowers/plants, donations may be made to a Veterans or other non-profit organization of your choice.
