Rex Charles Cade
6/28/1949 - 4/2/2022

Rex Charles Cade was born June 28, 1949, to Dr. Charlie and Barbara
Cade, in Austin, Texas. Rex was named for his two grandfathers, Rex DeSpain and King Cade you see, the name Rex literally means king and that was perfectly suited for him.

Dr. Cade moved his young family to Freeport where Rex and his siblings
grew up and made lifelong friends. Even as a child, Rex was everyone's friend. He could talk to anyone and make them feel special. Fellow students, teachers, coaches everyone considered Rex their good friend.

Sadly the Cade family lost Barbara, their mother, at an early age,
Rex's dad remarried Sue Brothers in 1972, who would become their much treasured bonus mom.

Rex was a big guy and excelled in athletics . He played sports
in school and ended up with an opportunity to play college football for the University of Houston after graduating from Brazosport High School in 1967.

Not finding his place in Houston, after a year or so, Rex decided
to attend Sam Houston State University where he later graduated from. In 1972, at Wurst Fest he was reacquainted with one of his High School crushes, who became the love of his life, Susan Farmer. Rex and Susan headed back to the Brazosport area in 1973 to
marry and to begin raising their family.

It was around this time that Rex's dad and bonus mom moved to Burkeville
to make their home. Burkeville became a place where the Cades would gather for many years to celebrate as a family and to enjoy the community that came to mean so much to Rex and his family.

They were blessed with four children, three boys and one girl.
Sadly, Rex and Susan lost their third son, Reagan, at a very early age. This profound loss remained with them, but they went on to pour their hearts and souls into Ryan, Chad, and Mary Ashley.

Rex was the go-to-dad for his kids and their friends. While working
and sometimes traveling for work, Rex always seemed to find the time to be there, helping coach, driving kids to lessons, sitting in the bleachers or the audience to cheer them all on his kids and the dozens of kids that were friends of his children. Rex
was a mountain of a man with the biggest heart and every child that met him knew that he would be there for them.

When not at an event for their kids, Rex and Susan were known for
their elaborate and exquisite meals created by Susan and her sous-chef, Rex. From gumbo and crawfish to delicious French cuisine, Rex was the perfect host, always ready to entertain his guests with a story or two.

The Cade home was also the place to be for the holidays. All were
welcomed and their home was filled with family and friends celebrating, eating, singing and enjoying the warmth of the holidays. Rex made everyone feel like family.

Rex loved playing 42 with his friends, dancing and in his later
years growing his garden. He loved to sit on the porch with his dog Coco by his side, drinking his tea while watching the sun set.

As time moved on the Cade children grew up and created families
of their own. Rex and Susan began to slow down and became grandparents to Reagan, Miller and Logan Cade along with Marlee Jimenez. These four were the joys of Rex's life. Again, you would find Rex in the bleachers, in the audience, cheering them on.

Rex Cade lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, April 2, surrounded
by his wife and children. That morning, Rex also won his wings to heaven, where we are sure that he will continue to love us and cheer us on. We know that he will be waiting for us when it is our turn.

Rex Cade is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Charlie Cade,
his mother Barbara Cade, his sister Sherry Miller, his father-in-law O.C. Farmer, and mothers-in-law Mary Lou Farmer and Betty Farmer, sister-in-law Carolyn Driesbach, and his little angel Reagan Farmer Cade.

Rex
Cade is survived by his wife Susan and his sons Commissioner Ryan (Kelli), Chad (Jonathan), and daughter Mary Ashley Jimenez (Alex). He is also survived by his much loved bonus mom, Sue Cade, and his siblings, Randy Cade (Kate), Collin Cade (Cindy), Trace Rich
(Deena), Beth Rich and Amy Arrant (James), along with numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. And of course the loves of his life, his grandchildren Reagan, Miller and Logan Cade and Marlee Jimenez.
