Ida Anne Christian
9/4/1948 - 5/24/2022

Ida Anne Christian was born on September 4, 1948, to Chris and Lelia Christian. She was the middle child of the family, with an older brother, Sandy Christian, and a younger sister, Mary Gaile Repaske. Ida spent most of her life in Freeport and was deeply cherished by her family. Her entire life Ida had a strong love for dogs. Simply being in the presence of a dog always brought her profound joy. Many black labs, all named Zorro, graced her life.
After graduating from Brazosport High School in 1968, Ida worked for over 25 years with Mom (and then Dad when he retired) as they created and developed the Brazoria County Work Activity Center, a welcoming and caring community and work center for intellectually challenged individuals. Following Dad's death in 1994, Ida was a loving and supportive companion to Sandy and Mom.
After losing Sandy (2006) and Mom (2007), Ida remained in the Freeport area for a few years. Then Kathryn and Steve Culp (cousin and his wife) welcomed her into their home in Bridge City, and Kathryn became her guardian angel during her later years. Eventually Ida's health declined, and she entered a nursing facility.
Ida leaves behind many family members who remember her with kindness and love: her sister, her niece (Betsy Repaske) and nephew (Dan Repaske), her aunt (Dorothy McKnight), and many, many cousins and their families.
On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, Ida quietly passed from this life and joined Jill Marie, Dad, Mom, Sandy, and the many loving family members who preceded her into heaven.
Rest in peace, dear Ida.
Her funeral will be on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 11 am at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel.
