Alexander ""Jack"" Jackson Moore
5/25/1921 - 3/26/2011

Alexander Jackson (Jack) Moore, 89, went to be with the Lord on March 26, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born May 25, 1921 in San Gabriel, Texas, the son of Jackson Lee and Lillie Mae (Fuller) Moore.
In 1945, he served proudly in the U.S. Marines. On October 26, 1946 he married the love of his life, Mary Marie Mitcham. He and Marie moved to Clute in 1952 where he worked as a mechanic and owned his own dump truck business. After moving to Freeport in 1953, he was employed by Southern Materials for 31 years, retiring in 1985.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed working in the yard, woodworking crafts, volunteering with Home Delivered Meals, and Brazosport Cares. He was a faithful servant and member of the First Christian Church in Freeport for 57 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Homer J. Moore and Terry F. Moore, Sr; one sister, Alva Raye Parker.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 64 years, Marie; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Carl Barrett; grandson Douglas Barrett; two nieces; four nephews; eight great nieces, six great nephews and two "grand" kitties, Muffin and Rowdy.
The family will greet friends on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Dr. Gary McCormick and Pastor Thomas Lester officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. at the Sharp Cemetery in Sharp, Texas.
Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the First Christian Church and E.M. Reeves.
The family wants to express their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all those who provided help and care. We especially thank Samantha McManners, the angel who helped us care for Jack, family friend Pat Griffith, and the staff at IPH Hospice.
The family asks that you consider donations in his name to a Hospice Organization in your area or the First Christian Church. Final arrangements by the Turner family at Lakewood Funeral Chapel.
