Elvia Salazar

Elvia Ayala Salazar of Sweeny, TX passed peacefully the morning of Monday September 25, 2023 surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Elvia enjoyed taking care of her family, serving her church Our Lady of Perpetual Help with her husband, cheering on the Houston Oilers, Astros, and Texans, and taking the occasional trip to Coushatta Casino Resort.

Elvia is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gilbert Garcia Salazar, Sr., parents Marcos Sr. and Maria Martinez Ayala, Brothers Rigoberto Ayala, Javier Ayala, Roel Ayala, and Marcos Ayala II, sister Elisa Calderon, and daughter-in-law Carmen Salazar.

Elvia is survived by her loving son Gilbert Garcia Salazar, Jr. and daughters Kimberly (David) Lewis, and Melissa Salazar. Grandchildren Kory (Hannah) Lewis, Elia (Derick) Hiers, Fabian Pena, Joshua (Amanda) Gutierrez, Brandon Lewis, Jairon Ordonez, and Kristen Lewis. Great-grandchildren Ava and John Hiers. Brothers Jesse (Debbie) Ayala, Jorge Ayala, and Jose (Sandy) Ayala. Sisters Dora Mosqueda, Marcella Lanehart, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services in celebration of Elvia's full life: Visitation Sunday October 1, 2023 starting 5:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson, TX with a rosary to follow starting at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass Monday October 2, 2023 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Sweeny beginning at 10:00 AM led by Father Lee Flores with burial afterwards at Angleton Cemetery.
