Funeral Services for Ruth Lee Flowers, age 91 of Lake Jackson Texas will be held at 1PM on January 12, 2024 at 2nd Baptist Church of Lake Jackson with Reverand Gary Thornton officiating. The interment will be held at Restwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 2nd Baptist Church at 12PM on January 12th prior to the service.
Ruth Kimes was born on September 19, 1932 in Harrah, Oklahoma. She was the youngest child of 8.
On July 3rd, 1954, she married JC Flowers in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
She worked as a long distance telephone operator before becoming a full-time mom, ''mawmaw,'' to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, homemaker, and part-time baker and seamstress.
Hobbies include gardening, square dancing, and arts and crafts.
She was a long-time member of the 2nd Baptist Church of Lake Jackson.
Survivors include:
Her loving husband JC of 69 years.
Three children including David Flowers, Cathy Nystrom, and Jay Flowers
7 grandchildren include Michele Southard, Teresa Elliot, Thea Renee, Sara Flowers, John David Flowers, Megan Follis, and Kyle Flowers.
11 great grandchildren including Hannah, Jacob, Liliana, Bryson, Michael, PJ, Patricia, Chelby, Alana, Tristan, and Theodore.
7 Great-great grandchildren including Aurora, Lincoln, Hunter, Stella, Sophia, Jaxton and, soon to be born, Baylyn.
Preceded by:
7 siblings including Ada Wheat, Irene McGee, Johnny Kimes, Ray Kimes, Viola Lytle, Frances Hall, and Catherine Suggs.
Pallbearers will be:
Curtis Miller, Ray Walley, Cliff Davis, Bryan Sidebottom, Glen Rice and Bruce Martin.
