At the age of 3, the family moved to Boise City, Oklahoma. At the age of 5, the Depression hit and their family was forced to move with all their belongings, in an old Ford Truck, to Arkansas. Elsie attended High School in Denver, and she always loved to tell stories from her time there. When Elsie was 17, the family moved to Richland, Washington, where she worked in the mailroom for the Hanford Project. While in Richland, Elsie met a sailor named Bob Wright. They married after a short courtship. Elsie worked at the naval base in Pasco, Washington, while Bob was serving in the Philippines. When the war ended, Elsie and Bob moved to Oyster Creek in 1946, where she lived the past 78 years. Elsie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, a founding member of the Oyster Creek Methodist Church and an avid Astros fan. She loved gardening and spending time with family. Preparing Sunday lunch for her family was a great joy. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Bob and son Jimmy.
