Clare Mae Worley
7/27/1958 - 4/26/2024
Clare Mae Worley, age 65, of Richwood, TX, passed away on April 26, 2024 after cardiac arrest.
Clare was born on July 27, 1958 to Raymond Holy and Marcella Novotny in West, TX. She was one of 13 children in a farming household. Her siblings include Catherine, Anna, Daniel, Donald, Eugene, Janette, Lillian, Marcella, Ronald, Theresa, Thomas, and Raymond Jr. She was taught how to be strong, independent, efficient, caring, and a quick learner through her upbringing, and she carried these skills throughout her life.
After graduating from West High School in 1976, she broke the family mold and paid her way through Texas State Technical Institute with a focus in the sciences, eventually graduating in 1978 and securing a job with DOW Chemical as a Research Scientist that same year. With the support of her siblings she left all she knew and made a name and life for herself far from home.
She worked for DOW Chemical from 1978 to 2019. During her 41 years at DOW she made waves in several areas and set new standards for operations and relations. She became an accomplished Lab Researcher and made multiple improvements that lead to best-in-class lab operation, setting the industry standard for turnaround times and quality. She traveled the world to assist in other site lab standards, and was well regarded by lab technicians, chemists, and clients alike. Clare also authored and co-authored over 90 CRI's, had 4 industry publications, and was awarded one patent.
Clare met Jack Worley through friends, and after their second date they declared their love for each other and married in 1984. They went on to have two children, Amberly and Houston Worley. She was also mother to Scott and Jayleigh Worley. Despite the stresses life brings, her life with Jack was filled with love, respect, and trust throughout their marriage. She was devoted to him even after his passing in May of 2014.
Clare had many hobbies. Even when she was employed she could be found making lawn ornaments, sewing costumes for the entire dance studio, crocheting billions of afghans, fixing things, and baking. Towards the later half of her life she dedicated her time to gardening, making large batches of food, and always providing delicious kolaches to everyone everywhere.
She is predeceased by her brother Eugene, both her parents, her eldest sister/mother-figure: Catherine, her husband: Jack, and both of Jack's parents, whom she cared for.
Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, Tx on Thursday, May 02 at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers Clare has asked donations to be made for the purchase of trees to be planted on her property. Consider planting a tree on your own property as well.
