Howard J. Green of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed from this life on August 16th, surrounded in love by his family.

Howard was born in St. Mount Carmel, Illinois, 1927, to Mary and Howard Green.

At the age of 17, Howard joined the U.S. Navy and served during WWII.

He married the love of his life, Jeanne Nightlinger on June 6, 1947. They raised four children, Patrick, Gayla, Michael, and Lorinda. They loved each other for 73 years before the passing of Jeanne.

Howard worked as a Rough Neck for several oil companies until 1961 when he accepted a job with Dow Chemical where he worked until retirement.

While living in Richwood, Texas, Howard served as mayor. He and Jeanne were charter members of First Baptist Church of Richwood. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge as well as the Order of the Eastern Star of Lake Jackson and Clute.

After raising their children, Howard and Jeanne travelled the United States before settling in Kerrville, Texas. While in Kerrville, Howard was a member of the Elk's Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, and attended First Christian Church.

Preceding him in death is his wife, Jeanne; granddaughter Maureen Sist; granddaughter, Sarah Sterzinger; and daughter-in-law, Nanette Green.

Left to cherish his love are his children, Patrick and wife, Barbara, Gayla and husband, Ralph, Michael and wife, Deborah, Lorinda and husband, Carl. Also included are 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will celebrate his life in a private service.
