Moving to Texas in 1981, Mark began his career in education for the next 40 years. He began his career as a physical education teacher/coach at Brazosport ISD. While teaching/coaching he pursued his graduate studies and started his administrative career in Angleton ISD climbing the ladder as an Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Secondary Education and then finishing his career as Assistant Superintendent of Schools.

Mark dedicated his life to his faith and family. He is survived by Deborah, his wife of 41 years, with whom he shared nearly five decades of friendship. His sons, Matthew (Madeline) and David (Carlie), and his adored grandchildren Connor, Paige, and Cruz.

Mark was a highly regarded educator so many strived to be, and he did not even have to try. His positivity, passion, and enthusiasm for it all just came naturally. Mark was much more than an administrator; he was a mentor and friend. God needed this wonderful man up in Heaven just as we needed him here on earth…now we know why. He probably has some folks in Heaven needing further instruction and tutorials, and he knew Mark Comneck would be just the man to lead the school. He was just about perfection right here on earth.

Mark was a beloved figure in his personal life and in his community. Marks' life was marked by his love for great food, good drinks, and nice music, which includes PIZZA, ice cream, NY bagels, ''Markaritas'' and Jimmy Buffet. Having been a star athlete in high school and continuing to play college football, Mark continued his passion for sports by coaching his boys and their friends in baseball, basketball, and soccer. The New York Yankees and the New York Giants were his favorite teams. All the way up until his diagnosis, Mark loved all outdoor activities and remained very active running, bowling and playing pickleball.
