Russell David Lidberg Jr., 75, of Brazoria, Tx and Winter Haven, Florida passed away on December 16, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones after a long hard fought battle of pancreatic cancer.
Russell was born on January 29, 1949 to Gus and Daisy Lidberg in Wisconsin. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, big brother and friend.
Russell was a 1967 graduate of Brazosport High School . After graduation he attended Wharton Jr. College and was part of the rodeo team. After graduating from college he went on to work as a machinist. Many know him from working out at Unit 2 Dow Oyster Creek for many years as ''RD'' or ''Rundown''.
On March 27, 1984 he married the love of his life of 40 yrs, Marilyn Hosea, and also became a father to her daughter Brandi, his pride and joy.
Russell had many accomplishments in his life, his biggest, having 39 yrs of sobriety. You could always find him at a Wednesday night AA meeting in Sweeny among many other meeting places. He was a role model to many in the AA program. He loved to cook and eat, mainly Cajun food. He competed in many cook-offs as ''Chef Boy RD''. He loved his antique trucks and cars and enjoyed going to car shows and riding around town in his little red Mazda Miata. He loved fishing and having a good Thursday night playing poker with his buddies. Russell was one of a kind and always there when you needed him. He was the biggest supporter for his daughter, Brandi, and loved watching every activity or sports his grandkids were involved in. He was always there watching them. He loved taking cruises with his wife Marilyn and going to the casinos.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Lidberg; his only daughter, Brandi Dorsett and son-in-law Chuck Dorsett; beloved grandchildren, Emily Small(Gavin), Lane and Coby Dorsett, Cassie Thomesen (Eric), & Caden Dorsett(Madisson); great-grandchildren, Ryder and Reid Small , Eric and Everleigh Thomesen; brother, Tim Lidberg(Terri); sister, Tina Etheridge; sister-in-law, Doris Hosea Trammell(Calvin); brother-in-law, Albert Hosea( Deborah) and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Jan. 25, 2025 at the American Legion Hall in Brazoria , Tx from 11-4. If providing, flowers or plant arrangements can be dropped off between 8:30-10:30am.
