Paul Edward Romine
2/9/1939 - 3/27/2025

On March 27, 2025, surrounded by his family, friends, and wife, Paul Edward Romine of Lake Jackson, TX, passed away. Paul was born in Beeville, TX, on February 9, 1939, to parents Paul Edgar Romine and Lucille (Yeoman) Romine. He was the second of five siblings and graduated from Beeville High in 1955. Distributing Coca Cola at a young age was Paul's first official job, where he worked alongside his Grandfather Yeoman, and learned the value of hard work, determination, and a strong work ethic that he would carry with him throughout life. His father, Paul, also modeled the importance of loyalty, diligence, and responsibility. Upon graduation, Paul entered the Army Reserve, where he faithfully served our country for four years.

Paul and Leota met at the Schroeder Dance Hall and married on December 23rd, 1961. They spent 63 years married, and their two red-headed boys were born in 1963 and 1965. Paul and Leota began their marriage in Beeville, but moved to Freeport, Texas, where they lived for 4 years. During this time, they built a house in Jones Creek and made this their home for 23 years while they raised their boys, James and Donald. This home allowed the boys to grow up in the woods of Texas with acres to explore, fostering a love for the great outdoors. Paul retired after 50 years from the Local Pipefitters 211 Union, and Paul and Leota moved to Lake Jackson, Texas.

Paul Romine was a member of the Velasco Lodge #757, A.F. & A. M. for 53 years and was presented the Golden Trowel Award in 2009, as well as his 50-year pin. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Velasco #220 for 43 years and past patron numerous times.

Paul and Leota loved square dancing and spent many of their retirement years traveling and attending country western dances. Paul was an expert craftsman with wood and was always spending time creating a wooden toy for the children in his life. Many of his grandchildren still hold the treasured trains that he built and share them with their children. His woodwork also included refinishing vintage cedar boxes and dressers, bringing life and beauty back to items that had been forgotten. Paul's love for gardening was evident in his beautiful flower beds filled with zinnias and his tasty tomatoes. Paul and Leota loved playing card games with their friends and family, where Paul's competitive nature would be displayed.

For 63 years, Paul with his wife, Leota, faithfully attended his local Lutheran Church, actively serving during his time there and rarely missing a Sunday service. He raised his sons to also be active in their faith, helping them at a young age to focus during services with loving ''thumps'' to their heads when they became distracted and preoccupied with the game's boys play.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Edgar and Lucille (Yeoman) Romine; his twin sisters, Pauline Fiebig and Charlene Middelton; and his great-granddaughter, Michaela Jeffries.

He is survived by his wife, Leota June (Bade) Romine; sons, James Romine and wife Lynn Romine of Lake Jackson, Texas and their 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, and Donald Romine and wife Mary Romine of Newcastle Wyoming, and their 4 children and 14 grandchildren; and his siblings Arthur and Joanne Romine of Beeville, Texas, and Mary Grobe of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson, Texas. The service for Paul will take place Wednesday, April 2, at Christ Lutheran Church in Lake Jackson, Texas, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Dr. Brian K. Gigee, Interim Pastor, followed by burial in Jones Creek at Gulf Prairie Cemetery. A Masonic service will immediately follow the graveside service.

Memorials for Paul Romine can be given to Christ Lutheran Church at 86 Plantation Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas, 77655 or Velasco Lodge #757 at Post Box 2757, Freeport, Texas 77542.
