Nenad " Ned" Joseph Baron

Nenad Joseph Baron, 67 years old, of Brazoria County Texas passed away on Saturday October 29, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 on Tuesday November 1, 2011 at Lakewood Funeral Home.

Ned was born to proud parents Nenad B Baron and Tiveda Selice Baron on March 12, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York. As a small child, his family relocated to Thunderbolt, Georgia where his father pursued a career in the commercial fishing industry. Several years later, the family once again relocated to Freeport, Texas, to continue his father's commercial fishing career. As a youngster, Ned began shrimping with his father and became a shrimp boat captain as a teenager. Ned attended Brazosport High School and graduated in 1962. He pursued a lengthy shrimping career and enjoyed many years on the water. In the early 80's, Ned purchased a local shipyard where he continued his passion for working with boats.

He was a generous and loving father and grandfather. Family was most important to Ned. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His fondest memories were family vacations, hunting and trips to Colorado snow skiing, snowmobiling and enjoying nature with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son Justin O'Malley.

He is survived by his daughter, Gina Baron and her son Jackson Kimbrough; his son, Ned David Baron and wife Julie and their children Tyler Ince and Mackenzie Baron; son Jared O'Malley and wife Megan and their son Liam; also sister, Yvonne Estes and her daughter Eliza Cunningham.

Serving as pallbearers for his service will be Jerry Monical, Rick Huber, Craig Wallace, Greg Bryington, Trey McCann and Tony Cornell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Ince and Jackson Kimbrough.

The family would like to express their special appreciation for the help and support provided by the staff of Colonial Oaks assisted living facility in Pearland, Texas and also AMED Hospice.

In lieu on flowers, the family has asked that memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
