Helen worked at a munitions factory in Edinburgh, Scotland, and met an American G.I. during World War II at a dance. They were soon married, and Helen arrived in Texas on July 3, 1946.

Helen lived in Lake Jackson on Sycamore Street for 53 years before moving to Katy to be closer to her daughter. Helen was a devoted and dedicated mother and a caring and loyal friend to many.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She was an active member of the British Women's Club, formerly the Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lake Jackson.

She was a faithful fan of her daughter's softball teams. She was a hard worker at every job she ever had. Through the years she was employed at a munitions factory in Edinburgh, the A P Beutel Elementary School cafeteria, the Lake Jackson Recreation Center, and the Dixie Meat Center.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Jackson. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the fellowship hall.
