Oscar Nelson Hollis

Oscar Nelson Hollis was born in Warner, Oklahoma, on January 21, 1938 and went on to be with the Lord on December 20, 2011. Loving brother, husband, father and grandfather. Nelson's life revolved around his family, home, friends and church. He was a man of great knowledge. He had 35 years of service for The Dow Chemical Company starting off as a mechanical engineer and retiring as a Chlor-Alkali Texas-Louisiana Operations Division Manager . He also was a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Lake Jackson for many years. He was always giving out of love without expecting anything in return. He died peacefully among his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Eva Hollis, his brother Leon Hollis, his sister Jean Rider and his loving wife of 43 years Laretta Hollis. He is survived by his son Barry Hollis, wife Leslie, and grandson Christopher of Decatur, Texas; son Gregory Hollis, wife Cherry and granddaughter Taylor of Lake Jackson, Texas, brother Raymond Hollis of California. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the service time of 11:00 a.m. at The First Baptist Church in Lake Jackson on Friday, December 23, 2011. Graveside services will be Monday, December 26, 2011 in Gary, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of the giver's choice in memory of Mr. Hollis.
