Virginia S. Long, 88, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away peacefully February 15, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September 10, 1923 to Robert and Ethel Scoggin in Carthage, Texas. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Freeport where she served as treasurer for 26 years. Virginia worked in the central lab department for 15 years at Dow, substitute teacher at Jane Long for 5 years, and H & R Block for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents,

by her husband of 52 years Donald Long,

son, Mark W. Long, and her

brother, Joseph W. Scoggin.

Virginia was survived by 1 daughter, Janel Botello and husband Leonard, III of Lake Jackson,

2 grandchildren: Leonard Botello, IV and Brandon Botello of Lake Jackson.

The family will receive friends 6pm until 8pm Friday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 2pm Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Freeport with Rev. Tom Sharon officiating.
