Cloyd Bennett Hester

Cloyd Bennett "Paw Paw" Hester, age 71, died at Home in Brazoria, Texas, on May 2, 2012. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on May 7, 2012, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, Texas, with Pastor Thomas Lester officiating. The family will receive friends at Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson, Texas, at 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on May 6, 2012. Born February 24, 1941, in Austin, Texas, he lived in Brazoria, Texas, for 34 years. Cloyd was in the National Guard from 1958 - 1966. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3724 of Angleton and Member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 3111 of Freeport. He cooked in the Brazoria County Fair Cook-off since 1981. Because of him it has become a family affair.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Beth Amason Hester; his children, Eda Hester Metcalf and husband, Jerry, of Lake Jackson; son, Truman Cloyd Hester and wife, D.J., of Brazoria; and son, Christopher Lee Hester, of Angleton; and his sisters, Carrol Rae, of Angleton, Texas, Rita Conley and husband, James, of Angleton, Texas, Charlene Ware, of San Marcos, Texas; grandchildren, Harley Metcalf, Jerry Metcalf Jr. and wife, Katie, Justin Metcalf, Lindsey Simmons and husband, Sean, Teaque Hester and Noah Hester; three great-grandchildren, with numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceeded in death by mother, Eda Lane Hester, of Brazoria; and father, Walter Cloyd Hester.

The family would like to thank the Wonderful People with IPH-Hospice. Those of us, who truly knew him, will miss him 'till we are reunited together in our father's kingdom.

Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Reeves, Bobby Krenek, Terry Jeffers, Walter Quebedeaux, Jerry Metcalf Jr., Justin Metcalf, Kenneth Gragert, Frank Shell, Ronnie Motley, Allen Morrow and Kim Baines.
