Doris Irene Howard

Doris Irene Howard, born October 20, 1925, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully at home in Freeport, Texas on September 30, 2012.
Known as "Granny", "Miss Howard", "Howie", "Great-Granny" and of course mother. Mrs. Howard is known for her 40 plus years of dedicated service to the Lord as the Nursery Director of West End Baptist Church in Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Opal and Paul Miltenberger; her husband of 41 years, Raymond Howard; brother, Paul Miltenberger; sister, Ester Mckenny; sister, Betty Robinett; sister, Faye Plummer; and brother, Ray Miltenberger.
She leaves behind one brother, Bobby Miltenberger (Peggy), of Lake Jackson; one sister, Joann Plummer, Colorado; three children, Doris Miller, of Freeport, Raymond W. Howard, of Freeport and Linda Sawyer (Tom), of Needville; grandchildren, Richard Miller (Susan), of Angleton, Doug Miller (Tammy), of College Station, Christopher Miller (Elizebeth), of Freeport, Brian Sawyer (Margie), of Henderson, Texas, Andrew Sawyer, of Needville, and Lorie Harbison, of Freeport; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her own family, Granny had an extended family of countless children and their families that came thru the nursery at West End Baptist that she helped influence over the course of four decades. Granny truly loved each one of these angels as if they were her own.
Although we will miss you Granny, we know that it is a glorious day in heaven with your arrival. Paw-Paw has waited patiently for you while your work was completed. There are a few old "Prayer Warriors" from West End to greet you and we are sure that there is a rocking chair with your name on it and many children waiting to sit on your lap.
Thank you Lord, for giving our family 80 plus years with this remarkable Lady.
