Matias Garcia, 79, of Freeport, Texas, passed away at his home on Monday, November 26, 2012.

Matias was born on March 14, 1933 in Mexico. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.


He is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Aurelia Garcia; their son, Jose H. Garcia; daughters, Elia Garcia, Maria B. Garcia and husband, Wayne Garcia, and Minnie Galindo and husband, Manuel Galindo.


He is also survived by his loving grandchildren and siblings.


The family will receive friends at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 29, 2012, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freeport, Texas.


Interment will follow at Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek, Texas.
